Realizing Enlightenment: The Truth is in Silence

"Spiritual Teachings
are different from other teachings
because they exist to help you
find freedom from the mind.
You read or hear something
that resonates with you as truth
and it strikes you at your core.
Beyond intellect and understanding,
you suddenly have a sense of freedom
that shifts your whole experience of life.
But what happens
is the mind takes
those words you heard or read,
and makes them the truth.
They become an idea or belief to live by.
What was realization
now becomes knowledge
from which you judge yourself and everyone.
And when you try and make an idea truth,
you separate yourself from truth.
You close yourself off
from actually experiencing
this moment as it is.
Because truth is not in the words
but behind the words.
Spiritual truth does not arise
from memory or past experience
but arises fresh and new from silence.
If you could hear silence,
that would be enough.
If you could truly listen to the silence
that is here in this moment,
you would be complete.
But because the mind is so noisy,
teachings are used to point
the way out of the noise
to the stillness that always remains.
There can be no words
for what is truly here in this moment
beyond the mind.
Words cannot touch
such freedom.
Blessings,
Kip"
