"Many people try
to control their thinking,
control their emotions.
They believe that freedom will come
by making themselves have
only certain thoughts and feelings.
But can you really stop
having a certain emotion?
What happens
if you tell someone who is really angry
to 'calm down'
or 'don't be angry?'
You better be able to run fast!
Just imagine it,
imagine you are incredibly angry
and someone tells you to calm down.
What happens then?
It just intensifies the anger.
So this proves
you cannot control anger.
And if you cannot stop being angry,
if have no control over anger,
are you doing anger
or does anger arise on it's own?
Freedom always begins with acceptance.
Acceptance means you allow yourself
to experience that anger.
You experience the sensation
that you call 'anger.'
In this allowing you are aware.
And if you are aware,
you are watching
this whole experience happen.
It is not happening to you.
Because there is no one there
for it to happen to.
You remain as awareness
as consciousness
and the anger arises out of consciousness
and then dissolves in consciousness.
A movement of energy.
All the thinking also arises
and dissolves
in consciousness.
But what happens is
you want to claim responsibility.
You want to raise your hand
and say "I got angry."
Then you want to justify
the whys and the hows.
To give yourself the illusion
that you are in control.
But it is all thinking.
If you really look beyond the thinking,
there is no 'you' there
to do all of these things.
There is only awareness.
Thoughts and emotions
come and go all on their own
and you remain aware.
How the thoughts and emotions come
is how they come.
You need not identify with them
nor act them out.
If you remain uninvolved
without trying to push them away,
all the thoughts and emotions lose their power.
They begin to slow down
with great spaces of emptiness
in between.
Then you begin to taste
your true nature.
What is there behind it all.
Unconditional Love, Peace and Bliss.
Not as emotion,
not as a separate thing.
But the quality
of awareness itself.
Blessings,
Kip"
